PsicoAngola
PsicoAngola began as a project during the COVID-19 pandemic.During the pandemic, while living in Portugal, I noticed that social media in the West offered plenty of advice on coping psychologically, but I could not find the same support for Angolans. Through my training and career, I was already aware of how underdeveloped psychology services were in Angola, so I decided to act. Since then, we have been part of 3,000 people's lives.
Volunteering
With the help of over 30 wonderful volunteers who were the heart of the project, and my determination to help as many Angolans as possible, in 2024 we officially became an Angolan clinic.
I believe, supported by research, that psychologists who understand the culture and society a person grew up in or lives in are best placed to help. All psychologists at the clinic therefore receive training and supervision from me, whether Angolan or of other nationalities. We have always tried to prioritise Angolan psychologists when recruiting.
